Dundee Series
If stories are not told or recorded, all too often they are forgotten. Remembering what makes people, places and things unique drives this body of work, and it is through the retelling of narratives that I seek to illustrate what I found beautiful and poignant.
This series of work developed while on a Fulbright Fellowship to Scotland residing in the city of Dundee. While I was conducting my research, I found I was also absorbing the unusual history of that industrial town.
Through the use of augmented reality, when scanned, each piece provides a background on aspects about the livelihood and people from the city and the surrounding area. The shadows cast from the laser engraved mica are reminders that time can be elusive and stories, if not shared and preserved, will eventually fade from memory.
